Import Tracks From Project: MIDI events do not follow target project tempo (Cubase 13–15)

When using “Import Tracks From Project” to import MIDI tracks from another Cubase project, the imported MIDI events do not adapt to the target project tempo, regardless of the selected import options.

This happens even when:

  • Choosing Relative Position or Absolute Position

  • Enabling or disabling Ignore Master Track Events

  • Importing MIDI-only tracks without tempo or time signature tracks

The imported MIDI events appear to keep their original musical time reference from the source project, making them rhythmically incorrect in the destination project.

This behavior is different from Cubase 12 and earlier versions, where the same workflow worked as expected.

:repeat_button: Steps to Reproduce (Minimal)

  1. Create Project A

    • Set tempo to 100 BPM

    • Create a MIDI track with rhythmic content (e.g. 1-bar loop)

  2. Create Project B

    • Set tempo to 120 BPM

    • No tempo changes, simple linear tempo

  3. In Project B:

    • Go to File → Import → Tracks From Project

    • Select Project A

    • Import the MIDI track

    • Try both:

      • Relative Position

      • Absolute Position

    • Try with:

      • Ignore Master Track Events ON / OFF
  4. Result:

    • The imported MIDI does not align musically to Project B’s tempo

Imported MIDI events should:

  • Be recalculated to match the target project tempo

  • Preserve musical timing (bars / beats)

  • Behave consistently with Cubase 12 and earlier versions

Hi,

Is the Musical Timebase enabled in the imported MIDI track?
