I’ve imported an mp3 into Cubase Artist 13 (onto an audio track) and although there’s nothing wrong with the mp3 most of the waveform is completely solid, just a couple of quieter sections to prove that there is a waveform there. It sounds fine, no audible clipping.
The same mp3 imported into Audacity shows perfectly normally and only the loudest bits get near 0 db.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the way it was imported, it seems to me that the waveform display has insufficient headroom but I can’t find any way to adjust it. Zooming in just shows the same problem only larger.
I’m coming back to Cubase after a good few years away and I didn’t know much last time , also, I’m not really a musician, I just happen to love music.
