Imported Piano MIDI File Notes Only Appears on Treble Clef

I’ve exported a MIDI piano file from ProTools and when importing into Dorico all of the notes appear only on the treble clef. There’s no splitting point.

I have never done this myself, but I searched the forum to find this:

When you import a MIDI file, a window entitled “MIDI Import Options” opens up. In that window there are many settings which affect how the file is handled/interpreted. Right at the bottom of that window is “Import Options”. Click on that and there are some more settings to experiment with. If my memory serves me correctly, there is a section where the split point can be altered for grand staff instruments. I can’t tell whether this works, but it’s probably worth a try.

Worth checking during import that Dorico is correctly identifying that the track(s) in the MIDI file are mapped to a piano instrument.

I checked this with a random file from a piano roll collection:

I have never done MIDI import, so I checked the import into Finale - without changing any settings - with this result:

Doing the same in Musescore gives this result ( it looks totally different - but it’s a piano system):

I tried importing that file into Dorico, and got this result:

Interestingly Sibelius also does not identify a piano:

Double-click on the Instrument in Track field and the usual instrument selector will appear. Change it from Treble staff to Piano.
