Importing an audio file into Cubase Pro 15 results in the file playing slower

I’ve only had Version 15.0.21 (I think that’s the latest) for about a month, coming from Version 13, so I hardly think the import process would be any different, but…

I import an audio file into a project like always and everything appears to be the same as always. But when I play the file, it’s much slower than when I imported it (from 120 down to about 86bpm). I’m importing a file that is 120bpm into my project that is 120bpm, so there shouldn’t be any adjustment made by Cubase.

I opened the file in Wavelab 12 (not inside Cubase; I closed Cubase and opened Wavelab) The file plays correctly. I tried four or five files and they all do the same thing. Is there something different in V15 that I’m not aware of?

Any help is sincerely appreciated.

I guess it’s a sample rate mismatch.
You answered the question about converting on import with no and set the option to not show the question again. Or you set the preference to “use settings” and the settings are not what you expect.

You can enable the dialogue in preferences or set the option to “convert on import”.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Thanks for the interest and help st10ss, but it was me…though I should have mentioned that sample rates were the same. But here’s what I did. Down at the bottom line is where I have my tempo box. I never noticed it in V13, but in V15, right beside the tempo box is the time signature box with, for this song, has 4/4 time in it. I obviously wasn’t paying enough attention and I accidentally put a 1 in the box, making it 1/4 time. I now know that the imported file gets stretched to one bar per beat and stretches the file.

I kept thinking that it had to be me because this is too big an error not to be noticed. So, sorry for wasting your time and thank you for helping out. Such a great forum.
