This seems to be straight forward I archive My project into it own file and then copy the file to my live computer laptop. I check yo make sure all the Audio and midi are in the file ( they Are) but then no matter which type of import prompt from the drop down there is only the first audio file and no others transfer , I have 12 song in the setlist and I see all the names but audio parts are empty? What am I missing here?
If you transfer whole project folder, you don’t have to import anything. Just open project file!
@ArthurNeeman is correct. If you follow these steps, all media should be present:
- File/Save Archive
- include everything (just to make sure)
- save your archive in a new, seperate(!) folder
- open your project from that folder
If this shouldn’t work, please let us know.
Okay now I am getting this message “The file /Users/lawrencerainwater/Desktop/VST live Set2026/Full 60 Min Set VST Live 2026 could not be loaded, it is not a valid project file.” I an going to go re export as archive and try it again
You should open .vlprj file.
Correct that is the one I am using. I double click on it then it opens VST Live 2 and then gives me that message I amgoing to re Archive from my other computer and try again!
when I archive the project it asks "do you want to copy the Project preset Layers,stacks,etc as shown in the media bay with the Project switch on? I am not sure what that means exactly Project switch on in media bay?
Ah, you’re still using VST Live 2, right? Please make sure to have the latest version installed, available here.
I should mention that VL2 is no longer fully supported.
Don’t you have the same version on both computers?
they both say VST live 2 v 2.2.130.612 (arm 64)
So I need to upgrade to version 3 then?
Not necessarily. But it‘s really difficult to tell what‘s going wrong in your case. And to dig deeply into problems with a more or less legacy version is somewhat out of scope for our small team.
You can try version 3 for free on both computers for a month and then decide whether to use an old, unsupported one or switch to a fast-running train we are all in 
Because if there is a bug in 2.2.130, I suppose you will wait a fix for very long if at all.
Version 3 will perform the same on a laptop as version 2. Plus new features.
Okay I will update to 3 and see if that makes it work.
Hi, or try Pre-Release version 2.2.116. You can download it here https://www.vstlive.net/. I just checked, it saves an archive, and the audio files are fine.
Otherwise, you might not get the new V2 update, as Arthur said.
Just letting you know, export archive should work correctly on v2. Did a lot, a lot….
So you go to Files / Save Archive (choose folder and let it run )
Then moving that very folder to the another computer, using same VSTLive versions.
Opening the exported projectfile and experiencing problems, right?
(Btw suggesting the upgrade because VL is gettinv fckn better week by week. But for export / import archive the problem meight rely somewhere else… just my 2c)
Before you go too far into the labyrinth of new versions, try the “Retarget Media Files” option in the File menu. It sounds like VSTL lost connection to your audio files.
I think, this retarget feature was introduced with VSTL 3.
I can see it in 2.2.130 and I think it’s been there for a while 
So I dowloaded VST 3 on both computers save the Archive file in vst3 on the desktop to A external drive. Plug the drive into my laptop and moved the file to my laptop cmd drag to it cropies all the files I see them all in there click on the .vlprj it opens VST3 and says that file is not a valid project file
