I’m a newbie to this forum and to self/home recording. Just got my UR 22 and downloaded Cubase A1 7. I can’t seem to import mp3 files into Cubase. Neither the ‘File’ drop down nor the ‘Media’ drop down for importing work.
Any ideas?

Mp3 encoding is fine with copyrighted software that Steinberg had to pay for. So we have to pay too. 
AI does not have the mp3 decoder. You have to buy that feature or upgrade to higher version.

unfortunately your information is wrong. Cubase AI can’t export mp3 files without the extra license, but it definitely can import mp3 files into Cubase to use them in projects.

please add your system specs to your post (or in your signature) for us to be able to help you. Might be that one file is corrupt or missing. Make sure that you have installed the latest update available:
