Is it possible to import a flow into a project (or flow for that matter) after I have added text and graphics to the flow to be imported? So far I only get the staves with notes, no title, no descriptive texts, no graphics. I´d have to to the whole thing again🤪.
Ulf, yes flows contain the pure music - and text, if you have added it to the music.
Everything else is determined by a present Layout. You will see this in the imported flow Info Window.
I don’t think graphics can be part of a Page Template. Others might correct me, if I am wrong.
I’d
Thanks @k_b , this is a real bummer!!! It will be hours of work to reconstruct everything anew. And I hate to say it, but a reason for really harsh criticism on Dorico. I am writing a book which I want to publish, and I had been advised to create flows for every new project. So, in that case I miss a) the information that imported flows only contain notes, nothing else, b) a possibility to create a new flow within an existing flow or project, c) a possibility to import ALL information of a flow, or to have a menu from which to choose what to include or exclude. But this is NO GOOD.
Why don’t you use the original flow you want to import? You can copy and paste things over.
If you assemble a book the better strategy would be to use Dorico for the musical examples and do everything else in a dtp application.
Sorry for the rant. Your suggestion is what I am considering. I did import the original flow. Now it is not formatted, I have to put in the title, again, copy and paste possibly every single frame on the text page, which I do not know as yet, and you multiply that with over 20 flows - aaaarghh, that is an arduous task.
Guess that is all too true. I got the idea from videos and the forum. It seemed to me that Dorico is fit for the task, at least that was the impression I got. Now I´m almost done, and it turns out to be not very conductive.
Don’t worry. Are you using Page Templates and also Page Header Templates? Dorico is very flexible in this area. It takes a while to set these up intelligently, but after that it might only be applying the right templates to your flows.
There have to be the right tokens in these tailored Page Templates, and after that it should only be a matter of putting the matching texts into the Project Info Window (and never directly onto the “pages” of course).
Thanks for the advice @k_b ! That will involve some additional study on my part. Getting to know everything about Page Templates, Page Header Templates, , etc. I have dug into those a little bit, but it seems I have to swim to the bottom of the well.
