Importing muliple audio files won't convert to progect settings

Hello. When I import multiple audio files into Cubase, it asks if I wish to convert the format if necessary. I click to convert and it imports the files, but they remain unconverted. i.e. 44.1 to 48kHz, etc. My work around has been to import each file separately. Any help is greatly appreciated.
