Importing muted track strangeness

A minor thing, but I’m interested to see if anybody else can replicate.

  1. Project 1 contains an instrument track with MIDI data, but the track is muted. Project saved.
  2. When importing that track individually into Project 2 (File → Import → Tracks from project…) , it doesn’t show as muted in the tracklist or mixer but actually is - no audio present upon playback or even when monitored. Toggling mute on then off again restores the audio output.

Just me? Cubase Pro 13.0.21 on Windows 11. Instrument track contains NI Komplete Kontrol and a short MIDI clip.

Is there any other MIDI Track routed to the Instrument Track? Is the Instrument Track using multi-outs or just a single output? Do you Mute the Instrument Track in the Project window or in the MixConsole?

No other MIDI Track routed. It’s using a track instrument rather than rack, and there’s a single midi clip situated on the same track.
Instrument is using single default stereo out, not multi.
Instrument Track was muted using the Project window.

Again, not really a problem and there are bigger fish to fry in terms of potential bugs, but it stumped me for a while.

Confirmed and reported to Steinberg.

The workaround (in the new project) is to click the Deactivate All Mute States button (which is lightning, so there is at least this hint).
