I really like Nuendo and Cubase. But something I do often is to import tracks from another project. In my case, it’s usually drum tracks. I import all the drum tracks from a past song I did to use those tracks as a “template” for the new song. I always make sure that the “Events and Parts” box is turned off. I only want the tracks that are already set up for my drum kit as far as track number and processing I use. Just the empty tracks for Kick, Snare, Toms, etc…
Not importing the track audio hasn’t worked correctly since version 12 of both Nuendo and Cubase. I have had chats and emails with Steinberg support in the past about this, and after a few back and forth exchanges, they go, “Oh yeah, you’re right. “ lol. But even in the new Version 15, I see it is still not working.
It looks like it works, because because the track that loads up first that you can see is blank. No audio. But then when you look at the tracks “Track Versions” they are all there from the previous project even though I selected not to bring in “Events and Parts”. All the audio is there and part of the new project. Then I have to go through the process of getting rid of them.
Hi, that’s exactly how I work with my band’s recordings. But I can’t see the behavior that you describe (I tried to reproduce right now). I only have the audio of the project I import into (if any) - which is what I expect.
So you say, you see the audio of the project you import from in a track version after import, right? Could you maybe post a screenshot of your import dialog?
Ah, I see. I can now reproduce it with track version in the source project and importing to new tracks. Thank you both for bringing this up, fix will be in next maintenance update.
Thank you wolfger for putting what I was trying to explain into concise images. Awesome.
Thank you DSabath for putting the wheels in motion to get it fixed. So appreciate it.
