Importing XML from old Finale file crashes Dorico

Hello! As a recent Finale to Dorico Pro 5 user, Ive been very appreciative of the folks on this forum… lot’s of help with the transition and really generous folks.

Here is my first post/question…
I have a Finale file (Mac) that is about 25 years old and has been successfully moved to Finale 27. I’ve exported to every variety of XML that Finale offers and every time I try to import to Dorico, it crashes when the progress bar gets to about 60%. I’m assuming there is something in this file from the olden days that is mucking up the works, but so far I’ve had no luck figuring it out. Any ideas on where to start?

Thanks!
Dan

FYI, here is a zip of the Finale file:

See this very recent thread with some possible answers.

I use the Check Durations plug-in in Finale, which revealed some bars with an incorrect number of notes.

After that, I was able to import it into Dorico, perfectly OK. There is some madness with notes that appear only as stems in the Piano and Guitar, but most of it seems ok.

Ahhh, thanks! Imports now. :+1: Yep, it was one of the layers in the drum set part… rhythm cues that looked OK, but didn’t have enough beats. As expected, most of the rhythm section parts are gonna take some work, but the rest is pretty good, all things considered. Thanks so much for your help.
