Impossible to hide bar numbers

Dear Team,

I’ve been sent an interesting file, written in open meter (but without meter). On every subsequent system after the first, there was a [1] impossible to hide because the property would not even appear when that [1] is selected. Two solutions: adding a X or open meter at the start would make those properties appear and be perfectly functional, and unticking the Layout options>Bar Numbers>Show above staff would make any bar number disappear, no matter what the Meter. Yet, I think this is a little bug that could be refined.

It’s quite easy to recreate the problem: create a new file without using the hub, so that you’re not forced to create a Meter, then make sure Layout options>Bar Numbers>Showing and Hiding – Show bar number at start of system for bar split over break is ticked.

Bar number appears and cannot be hidden.dorico (555,4 Ko)

Another possible solution/workaround is to assign a key command to the ‘Hide/Show Item’ function and to run it on the selected object.

You can hide the bar number by adding a Bar Number Change > Don’t include at the very first note.

Thanks. As you can see, I had found solutions, including the option that causes it. It’s not why I’m reporting it. I think it looks like a bug to have this kind of object and not be able to check its property. It was clearly destined to the Team (the development team) :folded_hands:
