A fast CPU is only part of the solution

Adding instruments degrades performance when editing only 1 instrument

There’s a performance difference between copy and paste a simple melody in a score with 1 instrument vs a full orchestral score, even when no other instrument contains notes. This should not make much of a difference. Would it be possible in a large score to disable instruments you’re not working on, so calculation is not needed for those instruments? Would this make a difference? This could be a solution for the people who can’t afford a new machine every few years…
