Improve DMX Editing

First of all, I LOVE the DMX feature that’s in VST Live 2. It was so easy to set up with my fixtures and would love to see it developed more. I have some feature requests, mainly around the current editing capabilities since that’s something that can be a bit tedious and I think these features would make it easier and faster to set up automatic lighting on music.

  1. Allow changing value/channel for all selected objects (only 1 object currently possible)
  2. Allow hiding unused channels. When there are only a few channels in use (in my case spread out) it’s hard to keep scrolling back and forth.
  3. Allow labeling channels (so I can see my RGBAW or whatever channels I’m using more easily).

Hi @thimssen,

yes, we’ll do our best to get those requests done.

Have a nice day,
Michael.

I have some additional bugs and feature requests. I’ll just put them here if that’s okay (I can’t update the original post unfortunately), if not I can put them somewhere else.

  • Allow to change the DMX visualizer channels and maybe also to have multiple for different channels?
  • In the DMX mixer view it’s possible to change the color of the channels, but this is not actually saved. After restarting VST Live they are reset.
  • The minimum interval between dmx objects in the editor seems to be 16th notes (when using the line drawing tool). This makes it hard to make smooth fades.
  • The Draw tool always creates a single point. It might be interesting to also allow ‘free’ drawing, for example for fades as also mentioned in the previous point.

Turn off snap! :slight_smile: :index_pointing_up::check_mark:

@fkalmus I actually have it turned off :grin: for some reason when using the line tool, the interval between the objects is still quite big… It might be tied to the zoom level now that I think of it.
