Improved Browser for Previewing Samples and Presets

Hi Steinberg team,

I’d like to suggest an improvement to the Cubase Browser/MediaBay workflow for browsing and previewing samples, loops, instruments, and presets.

One of the things I really like about FL Studio is how quickly you can browse sounds. You can move through samples or presets and preview them immediately, making it very easy to find the right sound without constantly opening and closing windows or loading each item manually.

It would be great if Cubase could have a similarly fast and modern sound browser, with features such as:

  • Instant audio preview when clicking or navigating through samples
  • Easy keyboard navigation (arrow keys + Enter)
  • Previewing samples in sync with the project tempo and key
  • Quick auditioning of presets without fully loading them
  • Better organization and filtering of samples, loops, presets, and instruments
  • Ability to audition sounds while the project continues playing

The goal would be to make finding and auditioning sounds much faster and more intuitive, especially during creative work.

Third Party drum kits have not been easy to work with.

Cubase is already very powerful, but improving the browsing experience could make a big difference to workflow. FL Studio’s browser is a good example of how quickly a producer can go through hundreds of sounds without interrupting the creative process.

This the only thing holding me back from fully switching to Cubase

Thanks!

This is an interesting set of feature requests, especially since Cubase already offers everything that you mentioned.

The only thing that doesn’t quite work as fast as some people like are the midi phrases that are connected to a VSTi, where Cubase takes some time to load the proper plugin in the background before the phrase can be auditioned.

I am puzzled.

Obviously it offers it, but it needs improvement which is the whole point of the post
