I am in the very early process of converting a musical from Finale to Dorico and am now working on percussion in my first song. I have already set up percussion layouts that match my layouts from Finale, which often have more than one instrument at each position on the staff (with different note heads for each instrument). Importing the xml from Finale I find that it seems to get the percussion instrument wrong more often than not. Accepting that and moving forward, I am trying to change notes to the correct instrument at a given staff position, but I find no way to do that on a five line staff. Editing there Dorico seems to see only the first note at each position on the staff and I have found no way to change to one of the other instruments at that position. When I switch to a grid layout I am able to make the change to the correct instrument. So, my question is, do I have to use a grid percussion layout to do my editing, or is there a way to do it on a five line staff?
In five line staff mode, when editing, can't move between different notes at the same staff position
Have you tried Alt+Up/Down arrow? Normally, it should cycle between the instruments that share the same staff position.
Thanks. It’s been months since I’ve touched Dorico was expecting to have to relearn some things. I was learning and using PrevisPro and Final Cut Pro to make a storyboard demo. — I think I must have been using shift-option-up/down arrow and not option-up/down arrow. Again, thanks.
