In place key editor

Hello everyone. I have run into a problem in Cubase 9.5. For as long as I can remember, when I double clicked on an audio part, I would get a screen with a keyboard on the left hand side and room to move the audio sample up and down just like a midi part. That is how I like things. Now when I double click on a part, it opens the sample editor in the lower zone and no in place key editor (I think that is what it’s called). I have tried opening it with ctrl/shift/i but this does nothing. I am sure this is an easy fix if you know it. Thanks for reading

I’m not sure what tab its under in 9.5 but there is a setting in preferences to either open in lower zone or in a separate window when double clicked. Just have a look around in there and you should find it. The in place one is when it’s directly on the track though.

I found it in the 9.5 manual for you:

If you select MIDI > Set up Editor Preferences, the Preferences dialog opens on the Editors

page. Make your settings to specify if you want the editors to open in a separate window or in

the lower zone of the Project window.

I think you might misremember. I don’t believe Cubase has ever had a Key Editor for audio parts/events.

I shouldn’t try to help before coffee… I didn’t catch the audio part!! Lol!!

Thanks to you both for replying, I appreciate it. Maybe it’s me that’s the problem and not Cubase! I haven’t used it for some months so I may be mistaken. I used to be able to whiz around creating tracks and now it’s back to learning again. I would love to be able to just drag a sample up and down to make it play higher or lower. Wishful thinking

You could explore loading your sample(s) on a Sampler Track.

Thank you very much, I will give that a try.
