In the Audio tab Convert to file "Why is it Stereo"?

Hello,
when I have a track recorded in mono and I want to “convert it into a file” Cubase systematically converts it into stereo. Why? Do I have a mistake in my preferences?

What do you mean? When you’ve recorded on an audio track, it’s allready a ‘file’, residing in the Pool. To convert it , it means to change file format; ie samplerate, stereo/mono or vice versa, bit rate . So what do you want to do?

I guess you are rendering in place or similar but have something other than dry option selected so it is rendering a result post your inserts and panning which are stereo (even if you didn’t add any inserts or pan the track).

I will shorten this topic.

Nicky has also posted in the German forum, where I have given a reply already.

In order for others not having to guess what is going on:
Mono audio events → put into an audio part
on an audio track configured as stereo
bounce selection will result in a stereo file

This behaviour was introduced with Cubase 14 (and I don’t like it one bit).
