Inconsistent Colors Between “Project Color Setup” and “Track Type Default Colors” in Cubase Pro 15

In the initial release of Cubase Pro 15, I’ve found that entering the same HSV values in Project Color Setup and Track Type Default Colors does not produce the same color.

From the menu: Menu > Preferences > User Interface > Track Type Default Colors, the default color for an audio track is HSV = (222, 3, 71).

Next, if you go to: Menu > Project > Project Color Setup… and register a color with the same HSV = (222, 3, 71),

Then, if you create two audio tracks:

The upper track keeps the default color from Track Type Default Colors, the lower track uses the color defined in Project Color Setup, you’ll notice that the two colors look significantly different.

Why is there such a big discrepancy? This issue didn’t occur in Cubase Pro 12, which I used previously.

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? If this is indeed a bug, I really hope it can be fixed, as it makes setting consistent track colors quite difficult.

Thanks!

Yes, they use differently scaled color pickers.

Workaround: right-click on the Track Type Default color and copy the color. Open the Project Color picker and paste the color.

For either setting, you cannot set the color using the color picker in Cubase.

Sorry, I didn’t read the instructions carefully! I see that it’s possible to copy and paste the settings by right-clicking. Thank you for letting me know the solution.

However, even if I do that, it seems that slight color differences still occur.

The two color pickers would therefore seem to be incompatible, which is an awkward design choice.
