I’m working with a large orchestral score, and condensing has worked as required. Proceeding in 3/4, I have a time signature change to 9/8, which involves the use of a pickup measure (9/8,6). This applies to all instruments in the score. The problem is that some instruments condense properly (ie. Flute 1 & Flute 2) but others do not condense. I’ve looked for the usual issues and even tried forcing things using Manual Condensing. No luck. The attached screenshot shows the situation, which begins at the start of the Molto Allegro.
Any guidance on how to “fix” this would be much appreciated.
Condensing problems are very hard to diagnose without examining the file itself.
That said, the cautionary 9/8 time signatures are different from the actual time signature change at the molto allegro. Might that have something to do with it?
I’ve encountered numerous points in this manuscript where the composer uses 3/4 and 9/8 distributed across a number of instruments in the same bars so every time I was working in 3/4 and was faced with a 9/8, it became automatic to use a 9/8,6 pick up measure to start the 9/8 bars. In this case, I didn’t need to do this because everything, with the exception of the choral part is in 9/8. I’ve reworked the affected measures and everything is condensing properly.
