In a full score, I have tenor and bass trombones sometimes condensed together, sometimes not. When they’re not condensed, the labels insist on sitting in the middle of the staff rather than next to their respective staves. It’s not the end of the world but it looks a bit odd. Is there a way to change this?

Thanks for your help @Christian_R ! Unfortunately I can’t seem to resolve the issue. When I opened your project the staff labels worked as I wanted (as they did for you) so there must be something in my settings. I haven’t (conciously) changed any condensing settings so don’t know what this could be.
It’s kind of unrelated but I also keep encountering the glitch below where the notes in condensed parts just vanish. Turning condensing off and on again fixes it but it’s a bit unnerving…
@BPB Please share the Dorico file (a cut-down version) with the steps needed to reproduce the issue/s (indicating the bars and beats etc.)
In terms of steps, all I’ve done is turn condensing on, then remove it manually for the trombones on certain pages with a ‘condensing change’. I haven’t changed any settings. If I toggle condensing on and off (from the edit menu) in the attached example, the staff label problem comes and goes, respectively.

The glitch I referred to just occurs randomly sometimes but that’s not my priority here.

The reason the staff labels for the trombones sit between their staves when they are not condensed is because both trombones started as the same instrument and were renamed. To fix the problem, change the instrument for the second trombone to a real Bass Trombone and create a custom condensing group containing both trombones. Then recreate the brackets needed for the brass players.
