Increase overall measure width

Me too, FWIW!!! And of course, the keyboard shortcut has to be created and alt-clicking the signposts make it a no-brainer.

Yesss, I agree! And using Keyboard Maestro and Stream Deck, combined, I programmed several buttons to make different Note Spacing Changes, including one for Reset (for theatrical Projects with a lot of spoken text in a Narrator custom staff), in one click. Really handy!

This is maddening to this Finale refugee. Why do I have to scroll thru a long page of debate and confusing instructions to do something that is so simple in Finale? Excuse my steam, but it’s very frustrating and time consuming to perform the simplest (in Finale) functions.

Hello Brucelon,
welcome to the forum.
Yes Dorico is a very different software than Sibelius or Finale. And Dorico has a completely different way to almost all other notation programs, how it deals with Layout and Content (the music). Whilst you input your music, the layout gets automatically updated by the second. There are constantly recalculations going on. That is, why you for example cant make a graphical element like a bar (measure) and then squeeze the music into it. A measure width gets calculated while you populate it, and it will react in a way you yourself have setup or can setup in your Layout Options.

Thanks k_b. Soon after posting, I tried entering the notes and Dorico nicely spaced it out for me. At the time, I had to vent to avoid exploding. Now I’ve learned two good lessons - 1) take a breath before posting, and 2) try entering the notes to see what Dorico will do with the input. Thanks for the kind reply… B.
