I can’t seem to work out how to get more space between the systems in this ensemble score. Currently it’s much too tight.
We want to keep the empty staves in the score, and not condense them out. That’s A3 paper. I can’t really go much bigger. Sorry, I am not experienced with orchestral/ensemble scores in Dorico yet.
Probably you have set the minimum gap between staves to be a bit too large. In general I would advise that the gaps defined on the Vertical Spacing page of Layout Options should be the smallest ones you could live with: it looks like you’ve set them to something pretty large, perhaps 10 or more spaces. I would suggest reducing these values down to something more like 4 or 6 spaces. Let Dorico’s vertical justification algorithms do the heavy lifting for you.
