Is it possible to create independent single staff like the screenshot Octatonic 1 and Themes.
Hi @marktoma99, of course is possible.
There are many possibilities. Depending on what you want.
- Here one:
The easiest ist just to assign for flow 1 an instrument with one staff (for example Sketch>Treble Staff), then write the notes for the first line without a time signature, and add the two barlines, then insert a system break, and write a 4/4 Time Signature and write the rest of the notes. Then set in Notation Options the final barline to be a normal barline for flow 1. Assign a system text to the middle of the second system and write your text.
Then for flow 2 you can assign what looks like a piano instrument. In layout Options you can decide to let every flow to start on a new page. Or you can force flow 2 to start on a new page inserting a frame break.

- Another possibility is to create a dedicate Page template for page one, but it is more complex and not necessary for that simple example. The advantage is that you have more freedom to positioning your staves, without page overrides.

Thank you. I will watch these video and give it a try. I did waste hours combing through videos on Dorico channel to no avail. I it is odd that you suggest I watch the video on the Dorico channel and then post links to videos from another channel. This is why I posted here because I did not want to waste any entire day or more. But again thank you.

Those two videos are videos that I made myself in trying to explain to you the different possibilities. (That channel is my private channel.) I learned the techniques used there from studying many videos on the official YT channel ( together with studying the Manual and reading the Forum).
In those two short videos I made for you in the middle of the night, yesterday, I just tried to condense all the necessary knowledge to suggest you possible workflows for your specific request.
Well I don’t feel I wasted nothing learning from the amazing videos on the Dorico Youtube Channel. On the contrary I learned very much from them: every minute of them contains very useful knowledge and all people involved in doing them are amazing teachers.
But everyone is different. Some people prefer to learn with text and pictures, some other with videos and so on…
Generally I would say, it takes a little time to grasp the whole logic about Layout in Dorico. If you would like to post here the links to the video you already studied, someone can tell you if there are more specific ones that would help you in this scenario.
