Independent pattern editor loop

Hi everyone,

I’ve searched for this before posting but maybe there’s no answer or I used the wrong terms so hope someone can help me…

I’m approaching the drum pattern editor tat I hadn’t used so far and I would activate an independent pattern loop the same way I know is possible in the key editor but I’m not finding a way to do it…

In other words I wish to listen the same pattern I’m editing without the need to copy it along the track while the rest of the song plays straight… (In the attachment I reproduce the question with two empty piano and bass part, just to explain…)

Is this a possible thing or not?

Thank you,

Art

To activate the independent track loop (the mini-cycle) in the Cubase Pattern or Drum Editor in the same way as in the Key Editor, use the Track Loop button on the respective editor’s toolbar.

Setting up the Independent Track Loop

There is no independent track loop for patterns. The patterns already are the loop.
Either you have no pattern on the track and have activated the Play with Project or you quickly draw in a pattern event.

Hi @Alfo, thanks fo answering but, as @Johnny_Moneto writes in the following post,

and this what I was login for…

Thank you very much, @Johnny_Moneto , this is what I hadn’t understood, yet; I still have to clear my mind about pattern editor operation…

If you fill the loop with blocks of the same pattern, you can use “Duplicate Pattern” to create a new pattern with the same data–and that makes it easier to try-out different variations without messing-up your initial pattern. It’s a different way of working with patterns, but it’s not bad once you get used to it.

Thank you @XLColdJ , this is very helpful!

A little ‘add on’: in this video by Demis Hellen he explains very clearly what’s a drum machine pattern editor feature that’s probably unique to it, that is to say you can work on different bar lengths at once for different drum components (in this case kick).

Maybe a lot of you had got it yet but for me it cleared the reason for having different steps in a pattern; this makes working on drum editing less restricted to a single bar and also reduces the need to change patterns in the project window to follow the song…

Hope it’s useful for someone…
