It is still crap. The new cubase7 should be mixer centered workflow.But still you cant the remote controls work with in that flow. They are still project window centered. The proper way that there a property for each hw controller where you select if it should work project or mixer centered. And by they way, please do a override for the channel select buttons. (Yes, I know it is not stienberg that do the hw, it is yamaha. But still they are steinberg branded so steinberg are responsible for the crap within cubase)

Have some AVID hardware and no problems at all.
About your “linking issue”, I don’t see any relation to the hardware.
Anyway, linking the several mixers dos not make any sense in my workflow.
(Have a main mixer (F3), an input mixer and a group mixer - why shall I link them?
