All in title, I encounter a very long init at the start of Cubase wich stay very long time on ‘Mediabay’ and ‘Media Service’ …
Hi, @cellier_jerome
Not really…
- Which OS ?
- Which version of Cubase ?
- How long (in seconds) does it stall ?
- Is it a recent issue (eventually related to an update or a system configuration change) ?
- Have you used recently the Steinberg Download Assistant (which is supposed to update MediaBay, if needed) ?
-
Which OS ? windows 11 pro
-
Which version of Cubase ? cubase pro 15.0.6
-
How long (in seconds) does it stall ? mediabay + media service = 1m17
-
Is it a recent issue (eventually related to an update or a system configuration change) ? no
-
Have you used recently the Steinberg Download Assistant (which is supposed to update MediaBay, if needed) ? mediabay is up to date
OK. Indeed, 1mn17 isn’t normal : here, it takes just few seconds for a database with more than 40000 items.
So, and even if you are saying that MediaBay is up to date, I would like you to give us the version installed on your end, though. You can retrieve this information, either in the SDA or by creating an instrument track with Groove Agent SE and clicking on the Steinberg logo in its UI to display the “About” panel (the MediaBay version is in it).
Beside this, and as you have a Windows based system, I would try what follows :
– close Cubase and any Steinberg application that could be using MediaBay
– copy in a safe place the content of the following folder (just in case…) :
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Steinberg\Steinberg MediaBay Server
– delete, in this folder, the following files :
- Defaults.xml
- mediabay3.db
- scannedFolders3.bin
– relaunch Cubase : at first, it will take some time, because Cubase will force MediaBay to create a new database from scratch.
Let us know how things could go (I won’t be able to eventually answer for the next two days)…
I tried your tips but without success (still long after)
it miss a file that you mentionned I have only that :
Hi again, and sorry for the late answer.
I did the described operation twice already, and it has helped in each case. Sorry to see that it didn’t help on your end. Beside this, it seems strange to me that the MediaBay version isn’t displayad in the SDA : is it the same thing, when using GA SE6 ? I suspect that something is wrong in your Cubase installation, but what ? Just wondering, while hoping that someone will chime in with an alternate suggestion… ![]()
is it the same thing, when using GA SE6 ?
I’m not able to see mediabay version like you explained …
Maybe you should manually download and install MediaBay.
First I would de-install Steinberg MediaBay through the Windows Uninstaller. Then go here and download the latest edition:
Select Steinberg Mediabay in the software field..
You should, normally, when clicking on the Steinberg logo in GA SE6 :
… and I would follow @Johnny_Moneto suggestion, at this point.
YEAHHHHHHH ! thank you that was the solution !!! now it works very quick at the start as before !!!
A big Thank you
Nice. I think @cubic13 deserves the thanks, having done all the detective work.
