Percussion 1 has the instrument change appearing at the very first entrance as desired. However, the percussion 2 part is not showing the instrument change label for its first entrance of the piece. How can I get this to appear?
For reference, the percussion 2 staff is hidden on the first system. I expect this could be impacting the label. Thoughts?

Indeed, Dorico isn’t clever enough to work out that the percussion 2 staff is hidden at the start of the flow, so it won’t automatically cause it to appear when the percussion 2 staff later on appears. For the time being, I suggest you add a Shift+X text item using the Instrument change label paragraph style at the desired position.
Perfect! I will go ahead and try this. The instrument change is appearing correctly in the part, however. Is there a way to have the Shift+X text only appear in the score and not the part since the part is functioning correctly?
Open the part layout. Make sure you choose to set local properties locally (not globally). Select your text object and activate the hide property. (It will turn into a text signpost)
