Initial rests when inputting voices

When I want to start a voice at a rhythmic point later than the first beat Dorico kindly puts in all the correct rests, as per this:

where I have moved the caret to start second voice input with the dotted quaver rest.

Is it possible to have Dorico not do this? I do this often, and then have to manually use Edit->Remove Rests to take them out.

I am not referring to consolidating rests of like duration. Often the voice will start at some different position, etc.

I think Dorico will always add the rests. But directly after creating your note in a new voice, you can set the “Starts Voice” property in the bottom property panel, |Command 8| on Mac, and any rests before the note will be removed.
