Input issue with new added audio tracks

I have an audio track with voice.
I created an effect track hooked up to the voice.
Now I created a new audio track to record the output from the effect track and it doesn’t have the input option to do so.

but…

If I create the extra audio track first and then add the effect track to the voice track then the extra track has the option to use the effect as an input source…

Is something bugged or am I doing something wrong?

Surely I should be able to set up my effects first and then add audio tracks and record the output of the effects on them without the need of redoing everything over and over…

Hi,

As far as I know, you cannot set FX track as an Input of an Audio Track. Use the Group Channel instead.

What version of Cubase? Can you post some screenshots showing the Routing dropdown on both audio tracks?

It works for me. The Effect track is a group track. All of your group tracks should show up in your routing dropdown for any audio tracks.

I think he should see something like this:

Yes you can. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it was added in C12 or C13.

I am using Cubase Pro 15

Now. This is what I am getting when I do the following steps.

  1. Import Dialogue Track
  2. Add FX Track to Dialogue
  3. Add Audio Track

As you can see there is no Bus available in input selection.

And this is what I’m getting when I do the following.

  1. Import Dialogue Track
  2. Add Audio Track
  3. Add FX Track to Dialogue

Now I have the FX track as an Input option.
This is how it should be from the start but for some reason it won’t let me do it.

I don’t have any older version of Cubase installed at the moment but I do have Nuendo 13.
In Nuendo it works as intended.

So either I did mess something up when I was setting up C15 or there is a bug in the program.

I would rather check for errors on my end first than go and report things that are not really a problem.

It’s most likely everybody’s favorite preference setting: automatically connect sends (I think to be found in the VST section).

Yes! That’s the reason. Thank You!

It’s ON by default and it messes everything up.

What is interesting, in Nuendo 13 (and I guess in Cubase 13 as well) this option is OFF by default. Why change it from one version to another?
