Input Multiple Verses of Lyrics Without Leaving the Keyboard?

Hi there! In a previous version of Dorico Pro (I’m currently running 6.2.10), I seem to remember that while inputting lyrics (via Command-V), the initial note selected at the start of the verse would remain selected the whole time, making it a breeze to simply begin entry for verse 2 by pushing Shift-L again, without needing to use the mouse.

Now, selection follows each word of the lyrics as they’re created, making it necessary to manually select that initial note head each time. It’s minor, but when there’s a lot of verses to go (I’m working on a hymnal) this behaviour becomes a bit tedious. Am I missing something? Is there anyway to influence this behaviour, or is there a better option I’m missing? Thanks!

Can’t reproduce that behaviour with Dorico 5, but undoubtedly there are forum menbers with versions that do back way further

You should be able to hit Tab to go back to the note at the same position.

This does work, but I still need to hold Command-Left Arrow to shoot back to the beginning. Before, that initial note stayed selected the entire time.

This is a good solution for now though.

A slightly quicker solution, when ending the verse of lyrics, is to press Shift-N to engage the caret, then hold Command-Left to zip back to the start.

I didn’t try this with lyrics, but I guess it could work if you do not use lots of rehearsal marks:

Set a rehearsal mark where the verse begins.
When you are done with verse 1, press shift+A to create an RM.
Press escape to exit lyrics entry, the RM should stay selected.
Press left arrow to move to previous RM.
Press enter to go into note entry mode, or possibly, shift+L directly and arrow down for next verse.

I am writing this down from memory but you get the idea.
