I’m trying to input a sixteenth note triplet (3 sixteenth notes) onto an eighth note rest. If I type 3:1 in the tuplet popover it gives me 3 eighth notes where the eighth rest was. What am I doing wrong?
You need to make sure you specify the 16th note as your unit, either by selecting the 16th note tool before invoking the popover or by specifying it in the popover. Also note that your triplet ratio should be 3:2
, not 3:1
– three 16ths in the space of two.
So you can either select the 16th note duration and then put 3:2
in the popover, or you can just put 3:2x
in the popover – the x
specifies that you’re talking about 16ths.
OK thanks, Ill try that.
Yes, that is the answer. I was mistakenly thinking that you would enter 3:1 to indicate 3 sixteenths in the space of one eight note. Thanks!
