Hi
Is it possible to use the inputs on the back of the UR242 for an instrument (guitar) rather than the front inputs ?

That depends on the guitar and the equipment involved…
As far as I remember, these inputs are line level and if the guitar (with DI) has enough output level, it is no problem.
