Is that the only way?
Is there no way to type the value of x you want?
At the moment it is indeed the only way. Paul and I were talking about this today and we are thinking about how to allow you to enter a specific controller value, so it’s something we may be able to add in a future update.

I had forgotten that it’s possible to have finer control during dragging - you just need to hold down ‘alt’ before dragging a value. This makes it very simple to obtain a specific value.
