Insert effects bay is buggy (slots freeze)

Hi all!

I’ve just migrated to a new system (windows 11), did all my updates and all the things, installed Cubase 13 Pro, installed all my plugins, and when i load an insert effect it doesn’t work. Meaning: it is visually there in the insert effects bay, but it does not affect the sound and it does nothing when i click on it to try and open the effect. The slot freezes. I can however reset the entire bay to empty it and thus remove the effect. And i do get a drop-down menu to add an effect when i click an empty slot. But when i do load an effect, that slot also freezes. This happens in instert effect bays for individual tracks, as well as the stereo out bus. The insert bay of an effects send track is responsive and seems to be working fine. Which is weird.

I thought “well, that’s strange”, so i installed Cubase 12 Pro, for which i also have a license, in the hopes it would work properly in that version. Nope. The problem is exactly the same in 12.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with Cubase?

I’ve never, ever, had an issue with Cubase before.

Anyway. Just hoping someone can help solve this.

Ok, i’m getting nearer to finding the problem. Created a new project, did some tests and everything works as it should. I think the culprit is Native Instruments Kontakt 8. Either Kontakt 8 itself makes cubase behave buggy, or the custom built Kontakt instruments i used in the previous test create this weird behaviour in Cubase. There’s a bit of scripting and coding done while building these Kontakt instruments, and i think that is what causes these problems.
