Insert mix feature request!

Hi, Would it be possible to have a mix ( 0-100%) function for every insert slot in the future, including external slots?

Nice idea, but wouldn’t that mean a potential doubling of audio streams (per plugin insert)?

And to want end; to avoid making an fx channel send? And how would you manage it on all those plugins?

The longer i think about it the more issues i can think of.

it’s not too hard to code the inserts to tell each plug-in delay separately and add the incoming signal afterwards (on/off 0-100%) per slot

So the request is to basically convert each insert slot for each channel into a VST Host? That sounds pretty difficult to me. But that’s what feature requests are for I suppose :stuck_out_tongue:

Every time somebody says this, a developer somewhere dies.

This is what developers tell you, to make sure that ideas die before they mean “more work”.

I’ll take refinements, to existing features, over new features any day because the Steinberg DAW, is already the most feature packed DAW there is.

Yes it is! But it would be nice to have some modern features like insert mix. For those who use a lot of hardware as part of a studio system, this would make routing much easier and faster.

If there, was a standard for embedding effects, such as DSP powered and mixer based effects, into the DAW, that would breath new life into the recording process, surely.

I fail to see a scenario where that would be beneficial, just turning an insert in a pseudo-send? And what about those plugins which already have mix ratios? What of those would take precedence?

This insertmix function would not be a problem for plug-ins that have an internal mix, so what? You could enable it if you wanted or not. If you use analog equipment, this would be a very big improvement!
