Insert mode and chord symbols

I’ve found Insert mode extremely useful, but it still catches me out occasionally in ways I hadn’t anticipated.

Somehow, after using Insert mode, I’ve ended up with chord symbols that are one beat out of place. Is there a way to move all chord symbols from a particular point onwards back by one beat?

Doesn’t alt/opt+left arrow work for moving by the grid? You can select the first chord symbol and do ctrl/cmd+shift-A (select more) a few times to select them all.

I’m rather irritated with myself here. I thought I understood how Insert mode worked, but it seems that when deleting beats, chord symbols do not move. I assume that must be the case, as they are the only elements that appear not to have shifted with the rest of the music, including articulations and dynamics. That said, I’ve just noticed that notes in different voices on the same staff have not moved (after deleting a beat using Insert mode). If that is not expected behaviour, I can’t account for why some notes in different voices are now misaligned. Something has happened where there are time signature changes.

I’m sure this is all user error, but it’s very frustrating.

f this is useful to anyone else, another point to bear in mind when using Insert mode arises when a player holds more than one instrument and you are working in Page view.

Only the instrument affected by the insertion or deletion of beats moves; subsequent entries for other instruments held by the same player remain in their original positions, and therefore may no longer be correctly aligned.

Thank you so much for sharing this link. Insert mode is not only incredibly powerful, but also remarkably flexible. I’m not sure how I would have discovered this functionality without your help, but I’m very grateful to know about it now.

A FR re Insert mode: When notes are shifted by Insert mode, multi-note tremolos are discarded, even though the actual note values involved in the tremolo are unchanged. It would be good if these could be preserved.
