Inserting New Frame Break Not Working

Hello,

In Dorico 6.2.30, I am trying to insert a new frame break on a page and move an existing flow into that frame. I’ve selected the correct flow I want, and it appears correctly. What I have been doing previously has always worked up until now- I’ve changed the frame chain to “MA,” so that I could permanently moved the existing flow only into this frame, but when I do that, the first 2 measures of another flow appear, and the flow I want in this frame does not move. The other choice from the frame chain is “LAK” if that helps.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong here? Thanks.

Can you show a screenshot? I think I understand, but it’s hard to visualize.

MA is a master music frame, the default music frame generated by the page template. Lx is a music frame drawn onto the layout itself, probably resulting in an override.

It can’t be MA because it will go in order, and you don’t want that. Make it L-whatever, and just select that flow to be displayed in the music frame.

Thanks for the quick reply. Here is the screen shot. I am trying to get the 2 measure flow that is circled moved to the previous page in the empty circle.

When I create a new music frame in that spot, and select the flow, it shows up, but what goes wrong is when I change the fain frame to “MA.”

got it thanks- how do I remove it from it’s original position on the other page and just have it show where I inserted the new music frame?

In Setup mode, select that layout, and remove that flow from that layout. That will remove it from that MA frame chain. Then you can force it to appear only in the “manual” music frame that you draw.

It’s a brain spasm at first, then it starts to make sense.

Here is a screenshot. It is flow 35 that is the issue. Are you saying to uncheck the snare drum part from the flow (I only want this flow to show up in the snare drum part and not the others, that’s why they are unchecked for the other instruments)? When I do that, and create the frame in enrgave mode and select the flow, it shows up in empty.

You’re right. I actually don’t remember how to do this, admittedly… it’s been a long time since I did it. But there is a better solution, which you can find using the Handbells project here:

The short version is that Daniel (or whoever) drew the music frame into the page template itself, making it a Mx frame, and then selected from each frame which flows should be shown. Hopefully that helps.
