Install/ reinstall Cubase 10.5 on a replacement MacBook Pro (mid 2012)

How do I reinstall Cubase Pro 10.5 on my backup MacBook Pro (mid 2010,) after main MacBook HD is trashed and that main MacBook is deemed not repairable.

Assuming

  • you still have the eLicenser dongle with your Cubase Pro license
  • and your older MacBook Pro has a MacOS version that your version of Cubase Pro is compatible with

then:

  • Download and install the Steinberg Download Assistant,
  • In the Download Assistant, log in to your Steinberg account and do the two step process of downloading and installing the version of Cubase that you’re licensed for.

If my memory serves me right, the Download Assistant will also prompt you to install the eLicenser Control Center, which is also needed.

Side note: No need to enter an activation code, although there’s a field for that (which can be confusing).

p.s. The title of your post mentions that your MacBook Pro is from mid 2012, but then your post says it’s from mid 2010
