Install upgrade to 8.5 pro From 7, possible steps

Hello
Please forgive my English, it isnt my first language

I have just downloaded Cubase 8.5 Pro and was about to install it
Luckily I have about a week and a half to try it out and fix anything before starting a movie score.
I’ve been using Cubase 7 since 2013, and didn’t have one single project gap to think about this (that was good luck too)
I’m using an Apple computer and just updated to El Capitan
My cubase 7 is still here, of course working very bad under the captain orders…je
Well so I was going to do the install and realized I don’t know if I should uninstall version 7 before, or which steps to follow. Didn’t find details in the user guide or the Forum on how to upgrade, or if I can Uninstall Cubase 7 afterwards, or if they merge

So the questions would be
1- Should I uninstall Cubase 7 before installing the 9 gb downloaded from Steinberg dmg?
2-Can I uninstall it afterwards?
3-Should I install the 8.5.15 Update?,
4-and Groove agent’s 4.2.30 update?
5- Will Cubase 8.5 Pro use the same Vst folders etc?
6- what would happen to those folders if I un install cubase 7 afterwards

Sorry to be so cautious, I have never Upgraded before and really wish there would be a step by step guide, not for installs but for the users/clients that could make the upgrade

I thank very much in advance anyone who can take the time to help me a bit

Hi,

  1. It’s not necessary, if you want to keep both versions. The biggest part of it (the Sound library) is shared by both applications.

  2. Yes, you can.

  3. Yes, it’s strongly recommended.

  4. Yes, it’s strongly recommended.

  5. Yes.

  6. The folders will be kept. These are global folders.

Thanks Martin
I will uninstall 7 after some testing, it doesn’t work with El Capitan…
8.5 seems to be going very well
Thanks!

Hi,

Yes, Cubase 7 is not supported with Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan. Cubase 8.5 is fully compatible.
