My sub brackets work great until my oboe becomes an English Horn. or Flute becomes piccolo etc. Is there a way to keep these sub bracketed without issuing a bracket change?
You would need to use a custom bracketing change from Engrave Mode.
Be careful, though, since adding a custom change will break every ordinary bracketing for the rest of the flow.
Once the EH goes back to Oboe, select the beginning of the new system and then go to Engrave > Reset Bracketing.
yes thats why I was hoping to avoid custom bracketing since basically breaks all of Dorico’s auto functions. Hopefully they introduce more customization for bracketing in the future. Maybe something like sub families would work, where you could put any instrument in a family into a “sub family” that would sub bracket together.
