Instrument changes, time sig, start of system

For the instrument changes Clarinets in Bb to A
the key signatures looks a little silly here

How to improve?

Change the transition position in Layout Options > Players

Does this setting in Layout Option gives desired result?

Edit: ninja’d by @Vadian

Well, in this case yes. But for percussion, no.
Yet, this might trump that.

Maybe a local Key Signature at the start of the system of clarinet 2 might do the trick?

If I’m understanding you correctly, try putting a chord symbol region over the bars of rest for each A clarinet after the the key sig change to E. That will force the key change to be correct for the A clarinet, instead of changing again when the instrument starts playing.

Good idea. But that wouldn’t look right in part then?

Tried it. It’s ok, but gives a cautionary on system before, and issues in part I guess.

Can’t those be hidden?

which issues do you see?

Yes, that’s a new option I believe. Per flow though, so applies to parts as well then? (not wanted)

Expecting custom key-changes in part on unwanted places.

Property exists in Dorico 5

screenshot is from properties in the bottom panel.

So possible per individual cautionary, and wont affect part

I guess those won’t be there if you create another local key signature back to the original at the bar of the instrument switch

I’m not sure what you mean. What wouldn’t look right, and what do you want it to look like?

I stand corrected. Probably because in part has key-sig-changes after last note in old instrument. Then no addition key-sig appears.

With a little tweaking this seems quite acceptable

Ok. Tried it out. Was a disaster.
I have chords tracks in my writing-layout. And suddenly the Cl.2 was full of chords everywhere.

Yes, this isn’t the best solution if you’re actually using chords. But you shouldn’t see them everywhere for that player, just on that one bar where you added a chord region.

Yes, you’re right. I inserted chord, not chord-region.
Anyway, found a decent solution with local Key Sig.
