Instrument filter usability: Select entry directly

In my opinion, the instrument filter usability could be improved. Currently, in order to filter, I need to click the filter icon first:

This takes some seconds to activate the last used filter which isn’t necessarily the one I want to use. I can then click the chevron icon to open the list of available instrument filters and select it:

Bypassing the necessity to click the filter icon first would save one click and about five seconds (in my setup), which isn’t much but quite annoying if you often need to switch between all instruments and a filtered view.

Thanks for considering this.

(I’m aware that as a workaround I could define a filter containing all instruments so a filter is always active. Nevertheless, I think my suggestion would lead to a UX improvement.)

You might consider assigning key commands for, say, the first three instrument filters: if you use the key command, Dorico will both activate the filter and choose the filter you specified in a single step.
