There have already been a lot of discussions about the instrument editor. Unfortunately it still seems to have a number of inexplicable issues (at least for me).
Firstly the picker as mentioned often still does not show all instruments in the instrument list. Below an example of a bass drum which has been created as in the first screenshot
and here the option the picker gives. The Bass Drum (1) which is the one I need as it has all playing techniques is gone:
Another issue with the picker I have noticed is that the lists for adding instruments to a player or to a percussion kit are not the same. An example below first adding an instrument
(by the way in the instrument list I have two alternatives for the cymbal but the picker shows only one)

As can be seen the alternative is now gone.
I have painstakingly created all percussion instruments I use with playing techniques and note heads corresponding to the percussion maps and gave them a star in the instrument editor which according to Anthony’s video should make them default but does not seem to work. At most you would get a second version of the instrument but as shown above that will also not ascertain you can also pick them.
