In Dorico 5 i’m using the choir reduction instrument and changed the instrument name from choir to SA for the top stave and TB for the bottom one, however it doesn’t always align with the spacing between the staves depending on the amount of the lyrics. Is there a way to manually adjust the instrument name location for each stave?

Hi, I don’t think it is possible to apply manual changes to its position. I wonder on the other hand, why you would want to display those labels at all after the first system. I doesn’t give any new information to your singers and in a way clutters the score with redundant information.
You will find that we quite often question the reasoning, if there is a request. Notation is there to help the musicians to perform, making that task easy.

If you do want to label each staff independently, I’d recommend using two separate instruments, e.g. soprano and bass, and manually joining them with a brace rather than a bracket (which you can do in Engrave mode), then editing the name for each staff.
But, as Klaus suggests, it’s almost certainly overkill to label the staves after the first system in any case.
