Instrument name-♭

How do I type the flat symbol (♭) in the instrument name?

I think you cannot in the instrument name, but it is possible in the player’s name, by typing the token {@flat@}

Then in Layout Options>Staves and Systems>Staff labels, you can choose to show the player’s name instead of the instrument’s.

You can try {@flat@}

I want the marked part to be flat.

I don’t think there is a default for this kind of double langage display?

If not, go in Setup mode, right click on the player > rename player.

Type Clar. in Si{@flat@} / B{@flat@}

Then, in Layout Options>Staves and Systems>Staff labels, tick your player in the Show player name instead of intrument name.

How can I center the instrument name in the middle of the staff?

Do you mean in two lines like I did above?

If so, there is a trick: Go to Project Info (Ctrl+I). In the Other Information field, enter your text and insert a line break just before “in”.

Then select and copy the text, and close the window without saving the changes. Go back to “Rename Player” in Setup Mode, and paste it there. You won’t see the line break in the dialog, but it will appear correctly in the score.

You can also do it in a text editor like Word.

When I enter the name in two lines, it centers correctly. However, when I enter it in a single line, it’s positioned too high. Where can I adjust this?

The violin instrument name is also not centered and appears too high.

This is not a topic I know very well, but I think it could be font-related.

For Instrument Names, you can add a shift baseline in the editing window, which allows you to adjust the vertical position.

But AFAIK for Player Names, unfortunately, this option isn’t available, neither in the editing window nor in the Paragraph Styles.

You should maybe start another thread with this question, and some users will be able to help you.

Or you can also have a look at these ones:

Chances are it’s positioned too high because there’s been a Return pressed after the name, which you cannot see in the instrument editor (it would be so useful to see those…). Put the caret at the end of Violino in the Edit names window and press suppr :wink:

How do I put the caret at the end of Violino in the Edit names window and press suppr?

Is there no way to adjust it in the Player Names section?

Clicking just to the right of the « o » that finishes Violino in the Edit instrument name window? We’re talking very basic use of a computer here, don’t look for anything too complicated :joy:
And this is just a guess, I might as well be totally wrong. But it’s an easy mistake I certainly have made myself (willing to close the window), that’s why I’d really appreciate if some carriage returns signs could be made visible in those fields.
