I’m running into a road block and I suspect there is a simple solution but I can’t figure it out.
I’ve included all the percussion instruments on a single player in the setup but when I go to percussion part most of the instruments are lacking labels. I’ve included three screen shots that I think show the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Is there a better way to set up the percussion parts or am I missing something that would make the labelling simple?Kindest Regards, Glen
Use a score layout rather than a part layout. Parts don’t label the staves past the first.
Thanks Tyler,
I’m not sure how to create a score layout for the percussion part when it is already part of the larger score.
You can turn on labels under Library->Layout Options->Staves and Systems. Make sure the percussion part is selected under layout on the right size of the Layout Options dialog.

Are we talking about staff labels (like in a score) or instrument change labels (like for a player holding multiple instruments)?
Because there indeed seems to be some issue: In the last screenshot we see the “To Sus. Cym.” label which seems to reference the instrument label “Sys. Cym.” before letter E, but there is a whole system of 4 instruments in between where there should be some additional instrument change labels. What exactly are the instruments the player is meant to play one bar before letter C?
Could you provide the file (maybe stripped down to percussion only?) so we or the Dorico team could investigate further?
Hi Estigy,
Really grateful for your response. I tried Jesele ideas but that didn’t seem to do the trick. I’ve attached a copy of the file with the fill score which indicates the instruments to be played. Basically I’m just trying to get the percussion instrument names onto the percussion part. Once again, I appreciated you help. Kind Regards, Glen

Hey Jesper,
Just heading off to bed and work in the morning but when I get home I’ll open the file. The screen shot looks right. Thanks so much for your time. Deeply appreciated. I’ll get back to you ASAP. Kind regards, Glen.
I simply did what I suggested in my first post, and unticked show player name instead of instrument names.

Evening Jesper,
Followed your settings and it worked like a charm. Sometimes the wording of the various settings gets a bit confusing for me but I’m sure this will get easier as I become more familiar with the program. Thanks very much for the help. I do have one more quick question. Sometimes on the score and in the parts there instruments are shown as regular numbers ( Flute 1,2 ), and sometimes as roman numerals ( Horns I, II, III, IV ). I can’t seem to figure out how to make all of them consistent. I change the name in the setup but this doesn’t seem to do the trick. Once again, many thanks! Glen
You could check Library->Engraving Options->Staff Labels. Are the horns created as section players?
Jesper
Sorted it just after I emailed you. Thanks!
