Instrument Track Initial Level?

I’d like to have newly created Instrument Tracks come up with Track Levels set lower than Unity. By default, Cubase sets newly created Instrument Tracks to 0 on the fader, I’d prefer to have them be created and set to a lower Volume level.

I can’t work out how to do this. Isn’t there a way to set a channel’s level as soon as it is created?

One way would be to create a template saved with instrument track(s) set to whatever level you want.

Especially since there is a Preference for the default Send level.

From memory, can’t this be done by lowering the pre-gain and setting it as the track default?

Exactly. It would operate like that, or the Project preference for Pan Law.
