To me the nostalgia is more about the amazement I felt when originally getting these old plugins all those decades ago, – Even if they couldn’t do half as much as the hardware synths and fx units I had in those days, being able to have in-the-box synths and fx was truly game changing for my workflows and finances. My excitement was sky high, not necessarily because of how Neon, VB1 or Karlette sounded at the time, but what future they promised.
Ahhh - when the future looked so endlessly bright …
However (and maybe that’s what you’re also saying) I’ve never been tempted to use these old things (even when they were made available again a few years ago) in my new productions.
But I can imagine a use case for those of us, who are resurrecting some of their very old projects. I’m not in that group, but I’ve seen many forum posts from users into that sort of thing. And there’s something cool about that - kind of like I find archaeology very cool.
On the other hand, if it wasn’t for GAS, I could probably easily get by with many ancient soft-synths as raw sound sources by running them through some of the modern fx chains. For example: granular fx, shimmer reverbs, fancy delays, and myriads of glitchy fx can make something very modern even from very simple sound sources.
Perhaps the Classics will be reissued as VST3.

i wish theyd give us a updated hypersonic 2..i bought this but its 32bit only so doesnt run in cubase 15 unless its using a wrapper and even then its very unstable.
It’s strange - I am fine with the stuff I already have and yet I am curious what this anniversary brings.
