Intel 11th or 12th gen?

Hi all,

I was going tu update my pc with the Ucore 9 285K but considering the price of the ddr5 ram, it’s gonna be a change of plan.

I’ m going to get a i7 11700k or 12700k. What would be the best gen : 11th or 12th?

Is there a major difference between the 2 gen ?

Are there any problems using those cpu with Cubase ?

Yes, 12th gen is a much more modern CPU architecture. I’ve been running Cubase on a 12th gen system, and it’s running great.

If you choose the Ultra 7 270K instead of the Ultra 9 285K, you will save enough to cover the price difference between DDR4 and DDR5 RAM.

Is there any overheating problem like the 13-14th gen?

That sounds like a good option! I didnt know this cpu was out and the reviews I just read are positive. Are there any benchmarks with this cpu running with cubase or other DAW out there?

None that I’ve experienced.

I should mention that I’m running this in a fanless configuration, so it’s completely silent (no fans whatsoever). I did have to turn off Turbo Mode to allow fanless operation, but it still performs just fine.
